What's a DVR?

You can also transfer your data via USB or burn them onto Cd's or DVD's. Digital recording makes retrieval of archived data quick and easy. In addition, All Samsung DVR systems come with an easy to use video search program. You can search for past footage stored in your DVR hard drive via event (such as an alarm) or by time.

What is a Channel?
In security system terms, a channel is the equivalent of a camera input. So, a four channel security system can have a maximum amount of four security cameras linked with the system; whereas an eight channel system can have a maximum amount of eight security cameras linked with the system.
Samsung security offers systems with four, eight, and sixteen channels. Our cameras are connected and powered by a single cable. It eliminates the hassle of looking for a power source for individual cameras.

What makes Samsung Cameras so special?
All of our cameras offered on samsungsv.com are night vision capable with IR light illuminators, giving them the ability to record at a distance of 50ft in night time conditions. All of our cameras record at high resolution. They record at either 520TVL or at 600TVL. All our cameras are weather proof with an IP66 rating.

What is Smart Night Vision Technology?
Each of our camera come equipped with light sensors which allow for automatic transition from normal, full color viewing to night vision viewing. Effortlessly record day and night, no need to turn on or off anything.

What are IRs?
IR's are Infrared light illuminators which are installed on night vision cameras. Because infrared light is not visible to the human eye, infrared light is used to discretely illuminate dark environments, which is then picked up by our security cameras. Our IR or Infrared cameras are auto activated, and can record a distance up to 50ft.

So an intruder will break in and not realize the motion detection function has activated your cameras, your system has notified you via email and text, and that he is being recorded without him ever knowing. All this is happening while you contact the authorities and monitor what's going on via PC or smartphone, using our anytime/anywhere viewing.

What does TVL (TV Lines) mean?
TV lines are a unit of measurement for the resolution or quality of a video/image; the higher the TV lines, the higher the quality of the image. Our cameras record at one of the highest resolutions in terms of industry standards, which are at 520 TVL and 600 TVL. Expect crisp and clear videos.

What is Digital High Contrast?
TDigital high contrast feature in our cameras produces clearer pictures, your blacks are deeper and your whites are brighter.

What is wider Color Enhancer?
Samsung's Wide Enhancer extended to display the natural green and blue brightly and clearly. The new Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology is upgraded to reproduce the brighter and clearer red.

What is XDR (eXtended Dynamic Range)?
With our eXtended Dynamic Range feature, the system automatically corrects and balances the darkness and brightness to get the best results. This feature is especially useful when recording areas with a lot of shadows.

What are IP Ratings?
IP (Ingress Protection or International Protection Rating), is a two digit rating system which defines the amount of protection against solids and liquid. Samsung's outdoor cameras are all IP 66, meaning that they are completely protected against dust and powerful jets of water, making them completely weatherproof. Below is an IP Rating chart to show you the guidelines for an IP rating.

With an IP Rating of IP66, you can be sure that our cameras have undergone grueling tests simulating the harshest possible weather conditions. As you can see from the chart below, Samsung cameras hold the highest possible rating against solid objects, materials, and dusts making them completely protected against dust and contact. They also hold a 6 against water or liquids, so as long as they are not submerged under water, they are protected from liquids and water.

IP RATINGS
Level of Protection against solid objects, materials, or dust Level of protection against water or liquids
0 No Protection 0 No Protection

2 Protected against solid objects larger than 12mm 2 Protection against sprays of water up to 15° from vertical
3 Protected against solid objects larger than 2.5mm 3 Protection against sprays of water up to 60° from vertical
4 Protected against solid objects larger than 1.0mm 4 Protection against sprays of water from any angle, not completely water tight
5 Protected against against dust or dust sized objects 5 Protected against low pressure jets of water
6 Completely protected against dust and contact 6 Protected against powerful pressure jets of water
7 Protected against complete water immersion up to 1 meter in depth
8 Protected against complete water immersion beyond 1 meter in depth
